Résumé de The Tower of Nero

Rick Riordan’s "The Tower of Nero" serves as the climactic fifth and final installment in "The Trials of Apollo" series, bringing the odyssey of the disgraced Olympian god Lester Papadopoulos to its highly anticipated conclusion. Stripped of his divine powers and banished to Earth as a mortal teenager, the once-glorious Apollo has navigated a series of perilous trials orchestrated by Zeus to earn back his divinity. This concluding volume sees Lester, accompanied by his fiercely loyal demigod master Meg McCaffrey, embarking on a final, high-stakes journey to confront the series’ ultimate antagonist: the tyrannical Roman Emperor Nero. The central conflict of "The Tower of Nero" centers on Apollo and Meg’s desperate mission to infiltrate Nero’s formidable skyscraper in Manhattan, a fortress bristling with imperial forces and insidious traps. This confrontation is not merely physical; Apollo must also contend with the psychological scars of his past arrogance and the profound transformation he has undergone as a mortal. The narrative intricately explores themes of redemption, self-sacrifice, and the true meaning of heroism, culminating Apollo’s arc from a self-absorbed deity to an empathetic figure. As they face Nero, who also happens to be Meg's adoptive father, the personal stakes become incredibly high, demanding profound choices from both protagonists. The book skillfully blends Riordan's signature humor with moments of genuine peril, as familiar allies from Camp Half-Blood, including characters from Percy Jackson's world, gather to assist against the formidable "Beast" and Nero's final schemes. The culmination of multiple prophecies and the stability of the demigod world hinge on this decisive showdown, set against the modern backdrop of a seemingly ordinary urban landscape concealing ancient threats.
