Résumé de The Silkworm

"The Silkworm," written by J.K. Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, is the second installment in the Cormoran Strike detective series. The book explores the murky world of literary publishing and the darker aspects of human relationships, weaving a compelling narrative around the investigation of a missing author, Owen Quine. Set in contemporary London, the story unfolds against a backdrop of the city's rich literary culture, featuring the vibrant yet cutthroat landscape of book publishing. The protagonist, private investigator Cormoran Strike, is tasked with finding Quine, who has vanished after completing a manuscript that is rumored to reveal scandalous secrets about several key players in the literary world. As Strike delves deeper into the investigation, he encounters a diverse array of characters, including Quine's enigmatic wife, a cast of literary agents and editors, and fellow authors, each with their own motivations and animosities. The novel employs a classic whodunit framework, where Strike must piece together clues related to Quine's life and work, while also confronting the complex dynamics of creativity and betrayal. A distinctive aspect of "The Silkworm" is its exploration of the theme of authorship—how an author’s choices and relationships can influence their work and legacy. Quine's manuscript, filled with thinly veiled portraits of those he knew, becomes a focal point as it blurs the lines between fiction and reality, raising questions about ethics in storytelling and the personal cost of artistic expression. With richly drawn characters and a plot that reflects the tension between ambition and morality, "The Silkworm" offers a gripping exploration of both the literary scene and the human condition.
