Résumé de The Last Olympian

Rick Riordan's *The Last Olympian* concludes the acclaimed *Percy Jackson & the Olympians* series, delivering the epic culmination of the long-foretold war between the Olympian gods and the Titan Lord Kronos. As Percy Jackson, the demigod son of Poseidon, approaches his sixteenth birthday, the critical juncture of the Great Prophecy looms large, dictating that his decision will either save or destroy Olympus. The narrative plunges directly into the climax of the conflict, with Kronos, inhabiting the body of Percy's former friend Luke Castellan, launching a full-scale assault on Mount Olympus. However, the gods are largely occupied battling the monstrous Typhon across the country, leaving Olympus virtually undefended and its fate resting squarely on the shoulders of Percy and his loyal demigod allies. The primary setting for this decisive battle is a reimagined modern-day Manhattan, which serves as a concealed mythical battleground. Readers follow Percy, Annabeth Chase, Grover Underwood, and Nico di Angelo as they strategically defend key landmarks across New York City against Kronos's advancing army of monsters and rogue demigods, transforming familiar urban landscapes into ancient battlefields. A distinctive framework of this final installment involves Percy's perilous immersion in the River Styx, a direct parallel to the myth of Achilles, granting him near invulnerability with one critical, vulnerable point. This act underscores the immense personal sacrifice required and becomes a pivotal element in the escalating confrontations. The book masterfully balances high-stakes action with deep explorations of loyalty, leadership, destiny, and the multifaceted nature of heroism, as Percy confronts not only powerful foes but also the moral complexities of his final choice. *The Last Olympian* brings several long-standing character arcs to their decisive conclusions, solidifying its place as a powerful finale in the series.
