Résumé de Sadie

"Sadie" by Courtney Summers is a gripping young adult novel that masterfully intertwines two narrative threads: the search for a missing girl and a true crime podcast that seeks to unravel her story. The primary protagonist, Sadie Hunter, is a teenager driven by a consuming determination to find her younger sister, Mattie, who has been found dead under suspicious circumstances. Set against the backdrop of a small town in the Midwest, the novel paints a vivid picture of the challenges Sadie faces as she navigates a landscape of grief, loss, and her own troubled past. The book employs alternating chapters that juxtapose Sadie’s harrowing journey with the podcast created by West McCray, a public figure who becomes intrigued by Sadie's quest. This dual narrative format creates tension and deepens the reader’s understanding of the emotional and psychological weight carried by both Sadie and the investigative lens of the podcast. Summers explores themes of trauma, the effects of violence against women, and the complexities of sisterhood through the raw and authentic voice of Sadie, while the podcast format adds a contemporary twist to the traditional mystery genre. As Sadie's desperate search leads her into dangerous and often heartbreaking situations, the novel highlights the lengths one will go to for love and justice. It also critiques society's indifference to the victims of violence, particularly young women. "Sadie" is a haunting exploration of loss and resilience, and it raises poignant questions about how stories are told and who gets to tell them, making it both a compelling read and a relevant commentary on contemporary issues.
