Résumé de Män som hatar kvinnor

"Män som hatar kvinnor," published in English as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," is the first novel in Stieg Larsson's acclaimed Millennium trilogy. The story is set in Sweden, primarily in the fictional town of Hedestad, where journalist Mikael Blomkvist and hacker Lisbeth Salander become embroiled in a decades-old mystery surrounding the disappearance of a wealthy industrialist's niece, Harriet Vanger. Blomkvist, reeling from a conviction for libel against a powerful magnate, is invited by Henrik Vanger to investigate the family’s dark history, hoping to uncover the truth behind Harriet’s vanishing on the eve of a family gathering. The novel intricately weaves together themes of misogyny, generational trauma, and corporate corruption, embodying a critique of societal gender dynamics. Larsson meticulously crafts a narrative that explores the personal and professional lives of its protagonists. Blomkvist is characterized as a principled journalist grappling with moral dilemmas, while Salander, a complex anti-heroine with a troubled past marked by abuse and institutional failure, becomes a formidable investigator. Her expertise in hacking and unyielding determination add a unique dimension to their partnership. Throughout the chapters, the novel employs flashbacks and intertwining plotlines to reveal the various traumas experienced by women within the Vanger family and the implications of patriarchal authority. Larsson's use of detailed investigative processes not only serves to develop the plot but also emphasizes the themes of justice and vengeance. As Blomkvist and Salander delve deeper into the Vanger family's secrets, the narrative builds a compelling exploration of the darker facets of human nature and the impact of hatred and violence against women.
