Résumé de Jurassic Park

Michael Crichton's seminal science fiction novel, *Jurassic Park*, plunges readers into a terrifying vision of bioengineering gone awry. The story centers on InGen, a pioneering genetic engineering company led by the eccentric billionaire John Hammond, who has achieved the impossible: the resurrection of dinosaurs. On the remote, Costa Rican island of Isla Nublar, Hammond builds a sprawling theme park intended to showcase these magnificent, terrifying creatures to the world. Before the park's official opening, Hammond invites a diverse group of specialists for a preview. This contingent includes the renowned paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant, his paleobotanist protégé Dr. Ellie Sattler, and the cynical mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, a vocal proponent of chaos theory. Malcolm's theories serve as a crucial intellectual framework throughout the narrative, predicting the inherent instability and ultimate collapse of any complex system designed to control unpredictable variables, especially life itself. The novel details InGen's innovative, yet ethically fraught, scientific methods: extracting dinosaur DNA from mosquitoes preserved in amber, filling genetic gaps with amphibian DNA, and implementing safeguards like engineered sterility and a lysine-dependent diet to prevent the dinosaurs from escaping or surviving independently. However, a meticulously planned system quickly unravels due to a combination of corporate espionage, human error, and the dinosaurs' inherent biological resilience, which defies InGen's attempts at control. A power outage during a severe tropical storm unleashes the prehistoric inhabitants, turning the highly anticipated tour into a desperate struggle for survival against Velociraptors, Tyrannosaurus rexes, and other ancient predators. Crichton uses this high-stakes scenario to explore profound themes of scientific hubris, the limits of technological control over nature, and the unpredictable consequences of genetic manipulation. The novel stands as a cautionary tale, vividly illustrating the dangers of prioritizing profit and spectacle over ethical responsibility and a deep understanding of natural systems.
