The story unfolds on a remote island off the coast of Ireland, where a lavish wedding is taking place, and tensions among the guests begin to simmer. Central to the narrative are three main protagonists: the bride, Jules, who is determined to have the perfect wedding; the best man, Johnno, whose past is haunted by dark events; and the plus-one, Olivia, who has her reasons for attending that intertwine with a troubled past involving the bride. Foley employs a distinctive dual-timeline framework, shifting between the present-day wedding festivities and flashbacks that hint at the characters' complicated relationships and histories.
