Résumé de City of Bones

"City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare is the inaugural novel in the "The Mortal Instruments" series, which introduces readers to a vivid world interwoven with Shadowhunters—human-angel hybrids tasked with protecting humanity from demons and other supernatural threats. Set primarily in modern-day New York City, the narrative follows Clary Fray, a seemingly ordinary teenager who discovers a hidden realm of magic and danger after witnessing a murder that no one else can see. This incident triggers her entry into a complex world filled with Downworlders, like vampires, werewolves, and fairies, as well as the enigmatic Shadowhunters. Clary’s journey is richly layered with themes of identity and belonging. As she connects with Jace Wayland, a skilled Shadowhunter, and Isabelle Lightwood, the three navigate the intricacies of their magical world, uncovering Clary’s true heritage along the way. The novel delves into the concept of Runestones and the significance of their powers, as well as the relationships between the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders, highlighting ongoing tensions and alliances that underscore the narrative’s conflict. Each chapter propels the story forward, building suspense while revealing critical backstory about Clary's missing mother and the greater peril threatening both mundane and supernatural worlds. As Clary grapples with her newfound abilities, she must confront both external enemies and the internal challenges of discovering her true self. "City of Bones" intricately weaves together romance, friendship, and the battle against dark forces, establishing a compelling foundation for the subsequent books in Clare's beloved series.
