Résumé de Cabin Fever

Jeff Kinney's sixth installment in the beloved "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series, "Cabin Fever," plunges protagonist Greg Heffley into a series of escalating predicaments just as the festive season approaches. The book, structured as Greg's illustrated journal entries, chronicles his increasingly desperate attempts to navigate the turbulent waters of middle school, family life, and an impending environmental crisis. The narrative kicks off with Greg facing potential disciplinary action after being mistakenly implicated in a school vandalism incident involving graffiti. His paranoia about being identified as the culprit fuels much of the early plot, as he tries to deflect suspicion and avoid the Principal's watchful eye. Simultaneously, Greg embarks on a misguided entrepreneurial venture to raise money for a video game console as a Christmas gift for his family. His plan involves organizing a disastrous Christmas Bazaar at school, a scheme that predictably unravels and adds to his woes, highlighting his often flawed decision-making. The central dramatic shift occurs with the arrival of a massive winter snowstorm, which effectively traps the Heffley family indoors. This forced confinement becomes the primary stage for the book's namesake "cabin fever," exploring the dynamics of a suburban family pushed to their limits by close quarters and dwindling resources. Greg's journal meticulously documents the ensuing chaos, from sibling squabbles with Rodrick and Manny over food and screen time to his mother Susan's attempts to maintain order through initiatives like the 'Clean Plate Club.' The scarcity of electricity, hot water, and even basic foodstuffs transforms mundane family routines into daily battles for survival and sanity. Throughout these domestic trials, Greg remains haunted by the unresolved school incident, fearing discovery as the storm's grip tightens. "Cabin Fever" provides a detailed, often humorous, look at the specific anxieties of a middle schooler caught between personal culpability, family pressures, and the unpredictable forces of nature, all presented through Kinney's signature blend of simple text and expressive line drawings.
