Set against the backdrop of London’s high society in the early 19th century, the narrative explores themes of romance, friendship, and the complexities of social status. The book uniquely employs the framework of mistaken identity and secrecy. Olivia is not just a passive participant in her tale; she actively engages in curious experiments to unravel the mysteries surrounding Bromley, who is hiding a significant secret that could change both their lives. As the story unfolds over the course of several weeks, Quinn presents chapters rich with charming dialogue and humorous situations, deeply exploring the idea of true love versus the facade often found in social interactions.
