Resumen de This Lullaby

"This Lullaby" by Sarah Dessen follows the journey of Remy Starr, a high school senior who is grappling with her complex feelings about love and relationships. Remy is the daughter of a famous romance novelist, which adds a layer of irony to her struggle against the conventions of romance that her mother promotes in her books. Set in the summer leading up to Remy's graduation, the narrative unfolds in the backdrop of a small coastal town where the warmth of summer contrasts with the emotional turmoil Remy faces. One of the distinctive frameworks in "This Lullaby" involves the significance of music in Remy's life, particularly the lullaby that her mother wrote for her, representing comfort even as it becomes a symbol of her resistance to deep emotional connection. Throughout the story, Remy grapples with her belief that love is fleeting and unreliable, shaped by her parents' tumultuous relationship and her mother's disillusionment with romance. As she navigates the complexities of her impending adulthood, Remy meets Dexter, an aspiring musician who embodies the unpredictability of true love, challenging her preconceived notions about relationships. The novel explores themes of self-discovery and emotional vulnerability, focusing on how Remy's experiences, as well as her relationships with her friends and family, lead her to reevaluate her stance on love. "This Lullaby" poignantly captures the essence of growing up, showcasing the trials and tribulations of transitioning from adolescence to adulthood while wrestling with personal fears and familial expectations. As the narrative unfolds, readers witness Remy's journey towards opening her heart and redefining what love means to her.
