At the heart of the story is Lord Peter Wimsey, Sayers' iconic amateur detective, who is drawn into the case partly due to his connections with the deceased and the unsettling implications of the death. Wimsey, characterized by his wit and keen observational skills, must navigate the social dynamics of the club as he delves into the lives of its members, each with their own motives and secrets.
