"The Sun and the Star" is a novel by Rick Riordan that merges the worlds of Greek and Roman mythology with a modern adventure narrative. This book serves as a direct continuation of the "Trials of Apollo" series while also focusing on the beloved character Nico di Angelo and his relationship with Will Solace. Set in a vibrant, mythologically infused version of the contemporary world, the story unfolds as Nico and Will embark on a perilous quest that takes them into the heart of the Underworld, among other fantastical realms. A central theme of the novel is the exploration of friendship, love, and identity, particularly through the lens of Nico’s struggle with his emotions and his place in both the mortal and immortal worlds. The narrative is structured around their quest to find a powerful artifact that holds the key to saving their friends and combatting dark forces threatening their lives. Riordan’s distinctive use of humor and character-driven storytelling is present, keeping the tone accessible and engaging for readers of all ages. As they journey, Nico, who is the son of Hades, grapples with his past and the shadows that linger over him, while Will, the son of Apollo, provides a lighthearted counterbalance, embracing his healing abilities.
