Resumen de The Return of Tarzan

"The Return of Tarzan" by Edgar Rice Burroughs is the sequel to the novel "Tarzan of the Apes" and continues the adventures of its iconic protagonist, Tarzan. Set in the early 20th century, the narrative resumes with Tarzan's struggle to reconcile his identity as the son of an English nobleman and his upbringing in the African jungle. The story begins with Tarzan's return to civilization after experiencing life among wild animals, a journey marked by his internal conflict between his wild instincts and the allure of human society. The novel unfolds in a blend of action, romance, and exploration, as Tarzan navigates the complexities of European society, particularly in Paris. His encounters with various characters lead him into a web of intrigue, featuring a love interest, Jane Porter, who re-emerges in his life amidst the challenges posed by villains such as the nefarious man, the German spy, and the treacherous Countess. Central to the plot is the theme of duality: Tarzan grapples with his nature as both a man of the jungle and a civilized human. This exploration is epitomized in his relationships, particularly with Jane, which serve to contrast his primal instincts against societal constraints. The novel intricately weaves elements of adventure, as Tarzan finds himself drawn back into the jungle, confronting not only man but also his own past and heritage. Burroughs employs vivid descriptions and action sequences that capture the lush landscapes of Africa and the vibrant, yet often treacherous, societal encounters of Tarzan in Europe. "The Return of Tarzan" invites readers to explore themes of identity, belonging, and the primal versus civilized aspects of humanity, making it a notable installment in the Tarzan saga.
