Resumen de The Lightning Thief

"The Lightning Thief," penned by Rick Riordan, introduces readers to Percy Jackson, a twelve-year-old New Yorker grappling with ADHD and dyslexia who discovers he is no ordinary troubled kid. His world shifts dramatically when he learns he is a demigod, the son of a Greek god and a mortal woman, a revelation that thrusts him into a secret society existing alongside the modern world. Following an attack by a mythological creature, Percy is whisked away to Camp Half-Blood, a secluded training ground for demigods on Long Island, where he begins to understand his unique heritage and burgeoning powers, particularly his connection to water. The central conflict ignites when Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen, and Percy is wrongly accused of the theft. With the king of the gods threatening war against his brother Poseidon, Percy embarks on a perilous quest to clear his name, recover the stolen weapon, and prevent an Olympian conflict. Accompanied by Annabeth Chase, a sharp-witted daughter of Athena, and Grover Underwood, a satyr posing as his best friend, Percy journeys across the United States. This modern-day road trip sees them encountering an array of classical Greek myths, monsters, and gods, cleverly recontextualized within contemporary American landmarks, from Medusa's souvenir shop to the Underworld beneath Los Angeles. Riordan’s narrative framework weaves ancient mythology seamlessly into a contemporary setting, presenting deities and legendary beings not as distant figures but as active, if often eccentric, participants in the modern world. The book explores themes of identity, loyalty, and the complex relationships between divine parents and their half-mortal children, all while unraveling a conspiracy far greater than a simple theft. Percy's adventure is a race against time, guided by a cryptic prophecy, as he navigates betrayal and discovers the true meaning of heroism in a world where ancient legends are very much alive.
