The chapters are not arranged chronologically but rather by length, with the longest Surahs generally appearing first. Yusuf Ali's translation seeks to convey the essence and meaning of the original Arabic text while making it accessible to an English-speaking audience. His annotations aim to clarify cultural and historical contexts, making the teachings relevant to contemporary readers. This edition also reflects the intricate linguistic and rhetorical features of the Qur'an, shedding light on its literary beauty and profound implications on law, ethics, and interfaith dialogue. Overall, "The Holy Qur'an" by Abdullah Yusuf Ali serves as both a religious guide and a cultural document, inviting readers to ponder its multifaceted teachings and their relevance in today's society, while being rooted in the Islamic tradition.
