《The Hidden Kingdom》摘要

Tui Sutherland's "The Hidden Kingdom" is the third installment in her bestselling *Wings of Fire* series, shifting the narrative focus to Glory, the often-sarcastic and perpetually underestimated RainWing dragonet of destiny. Tired of being dismissed by her fellow dragonets and the adult dragons of Pyrrhia, Glory and her companions venture into the enigmatic Rainforest Kingdom, hoping to find a safe haven from the ongoing war and potentially identify a new queen for the notoriously disorganized and seemingly leaderless RainWing tribe. Upon their arrival, Glory confronts the stark reality of her tribe's existence: a vibrant but deeply apathetic community whose members spend most of their time napping, sunbathing, and eating fruit. However, the idyllic facade quickly crumbles when Glory discovers a chilling secret: RainWings are mysteriously disappearing from their own territory, and the tribe's leadership, such as it is, appears indifferent or oblivious. Fueled by a growing sense of responsibility and a fierce determination to prove her worth, Glory undertakes her own investigation, utilizing her keen observational skills and untapped strategic thinking to unravel the conspiracy. The book delves into the unique biology and culture of the RainWings, exploring their extraordinary camouflage abilities, their venomous fangs, and their general reluctance to engage in conflict or even exert themselves. As Glory pushes past her tribe's ingrained passivity, she not only uncovers the truth behind the vanishings but also begins to embrace her own dormant leadership qualities. "The Hidden Kingdom" explores themes of identity, challenging stereotypes, and the discovery of inner strength, all set against the lush, perilous backdrop of the rainforest and its unexpected dangers, highlighting how even the most unassuming individuals can rise to meet extraordinary challenges.
