Resumen de The Foundation Trilogy

"The Foundation Trilogy" by Isaac Asimov is a seminal work of science fiction that originally comprises three novels: "Foundation," "Foundation and Empire," and "Second Foundation." Set in a distant future where a Galactic Empire is in decline, Asimov explores the cyclical nature of history and the power of psychohistory, a mathematical sociology developed by the protagonist Hari Seldon. This framework allows Seldon to predict the future of humanity on a grand scale, leading him to establish the Foundation—an institute aimed at preserving and curating human knowledge to mitigate the impending dark age. Throughout the trilogy, Seldon’s vision drives a series of political and social experiments as various factions, including the Empire and the mysterious Second Foundation, vie for control and influence over the future. The narrative unfolds across different locations, from the planet Terminus, where the Foundation is established, to the imperial heart of Trantor. Key protagonists include Gaal Dornick, a young mathematician who becomes deeply involved with Seldon’s plans, and various leaders who navigate the complex interplay of power and ideology. Asimov deftly weaves themes of decay and renewal, illustrating how knowledge and innovation can reshape societies. The trilogy also introduces a number of intriguing concepts such as the Zeroth Law of Robotics, which has profound implications for humanity's stewardship of its own future. "The Foundation Trilogy" not only lays the groundwork for much of modern science fiction but also serves as a meditation on the forces that drive history and the interplay of free will and determinism, resonating with readers across generations.
