《Sourcery》摘要

"Sourcery" is a fantasy novel by Terry Pratchett, part of his acclaimed Discworld series, and centers around the themes of magic, power, and the consequences of absolute knowledge. The story introduces the concept of a sourcerer, a superlative magic user whose powers can surpass all others. The narrative follows the young protagonist, Coin, a seemingly innocent boy whose arising abilities threaten the delicate balance of magic and reality in the Discworld. Set primarily in the bustling city of Ankh-Morpork and the illustrious Unseen University, where the most powerful wizards reside, the book explores the inherent absurdities and bureaucracies of wizardry. Coin's unintentional rise as a sourcerer leads to chaos, as he channels primordial magic that can reshape the fabric of the universe. The work also reintroduces familiar characters like Rincewind, the cowardly wizard, known for his lack of magical prowess but keen survival instincts, who becomes unwillingly embroiled in the conflict over Coin's growing powers. The chapters reveal humorous subversions of traditional fantasy tropes, often critiquing the archetypes of good and evil, while also delving into the nature of reality and the risks of wielding unchecked power. The interplay between Rincewind's desperate antics and the darkly whimsical emergence of sourcery creates a compelling narrative that reflects Pratchett's signature wit and satire. As the wizards of the Unseen University grapple with the escalating threat posed by Coin, they must confront both external and internal conflicts, leading to a chaotic confrontation that promises to redefine their understanding of magic and responsibility.
