『Return to the Isle of the Lost』要約

"Return to the Isle of the Lost" by Melissa De La Cruz is a captivating sequel to the bestselling "Isle of the Lost," continuing the adventures of the offspring of Disney villains. Set in the fictional realm of Auradon and its counterpart, the Isle of the Lost, the novel explores themes of identity, redemption, and the struggle between good and evil. The story follows Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos as they confront their legacy while trying to embrace new experiences in their lives. The narrative delves into the challenges faced by the four protagonists as they return to the Isle of the Lost, which has become a stark contrast to their newfound lives in Auradon. The group aims to recover a powerful artifact, which leads them through trials that test their loyalties and friendships. Central to the plot is the notion of overcoming one's past and redefining one's future, mirroring the journeys of many young adults grappling with their own identities. De La Cruz adds layers of intrigue by introducing new characters and complications that highlight the residents of the Isle. The overarching framework continually questions what it means to be "good" or "evil," often blurring the lines between the two. The chapters are structured around the friends' various trials, mixing action, humor, and heartfelt moments that resonate with readers. "Return to the Isle of the Lost" not only advances the story of the beloved characters but also serves as a rich exploration of themes surrounding family, friendship, and the choice between legacy and personal aspirations, making it a vital addition to the Disney Descendants series.
