Ray Dalio’s *Principles* distills the investing and management philosophy he developed as founder of Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund. Dalio also describes the “two yous”—the higher-level designer and the lower-level worker—arguing that progress requires the designer to objectively oversee the worker. The work principles section extends these ideas into organizational design, emphasizing hyperrealistic cultures, idea meritocracy, and systematic hiring and evaluation. The book is as much a management memoir as a guide to decision-making.
