"Neon Gods" by Katee Robert is a modern retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone, set in a vibrant, gritty urban landscape that blends elements of fantasy and contemporary romance. The novel introduces readers to a world where gods and mortals coexist, but the lines between them are both blurred and fiercely drawn. The story unfolds in a city that operates under the watchful eye of the powerful, with a distinct focus on the relationships and rivalries among its divine inhabitants. Robert crafts a tale filled with intrigue, exploring themes of power, desire, and self-discovery. As the story progresses, the protagonists navigate not only their burgeoning feelings for each other but also the perilous politics of the underworld—full of manipulation, betrayal, and danger from the tracking forces of their divine peers.
