Throughout the narrative, he forms friendships with the quirky staff, including a fortune teller who offers insights into his life, and a mother with a disabled son who becomes a pivotal part of his journey. The story balances elements of horror, emotional growth, and a touch of romance, allowing Devin to grow from his experiences and face the realities of adulthood. Stephen King's "Joyland" is distinctive for its blend of supernatural elements with a heartfelt coming-of-age tale.
