《Infomocracy》摘要

"Infomocracy" by Malka Older is a science fiction novel set in a near-future world where governments have been transformed by the implementation of an advanced information system called "the Centenal." This innovative framework allows global citizens to choose their government every ten years in a hyper-democratic model known as "Information." The book presents a complex geopolitical landscape divided into "micro-democracies," where decision-making is influenced by real-time data and citizen preferences. The narrative follows several protagonists, including the resourceful and determined Information agent, Michiko. Another key character is the political strategist Han, who navigates the intricacies of a shifting and unpredictable political environment. As the protagonists work within this system, they encounter various challenges, such as disinformation, power struggles, and the implications of their choices on the fabric of society. Central to the plot is the examination of how the abundance of information affects power dynamics and individual agency. The novel delves into themes of surveillance, democratic processes, and the role of technology in shaping human experiences and governance. Through its multi-perspective storytelling, "Infomocracy" explores the moral and ethical dilemmas posed by a data-driven society, particularly in the context of elections and governance. Older's inventive world-building and intricate character relationships raise critical questions about democracy in the digital age. By intertwining the personal with the political, "Infomocracy" challenges readers to consider the consequences of a society where information is both a tool and a weapon, leading to a compelling and thought-provoking narrative.
