"Harrow the Ninth" by Tamsyn Muir is the highly anticipated sequel to "Gideon the Ninth," set in a unique universe that blends necromancy with science fiction and fantasy elements. The novel continues the story within the complex political landscape of the Locked Tomb universe, focusing on the titular character, Harrowhark Nonagesimus, the heir of the Ninth House. The setting oscillates between various celestial locations, including the mysterious and claustrophobic confines of the House and the enigmatic world of the Emperor. The narrative unfolds in a nonlinear fashion, interspersing Harrow's present with vivid memories of her traumatic past and her precarious relationships with other necromancers and their houses.
