Саммари «Gone Girl»

Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn’s 2012 bestselling thriller, is set largely in North Carthage, Missouri, a struggling river town where the recession has gutted local jobs. The novel opens on the fifth wedding anniversary of Nick Dunne and his wife Amy, a New York couple who relocated after both lost their magazine jobs to care for Nick’s dying mother. That morning Amy vanishes from their rented house, leaving signs of a struggle. The story unfolds through a distinctive dual structure. Nick narrates the present-day investigation in first person as suspicion slowly gathers around him, while Amy’s voice arrives through dated diary entries tracing the couple’s courtship and the erosion of their marriage. Flynn alternates these perspectives chapter by chapter, letting the two accounts contradict each other and forcing readers to weigh whose version is trustworthy. The supporting cast includes Detective Rhonda Boney, who methodically builds the case against Nick; Nick’s twin sister Margo, his staunchest ally; and Amy’s wealthy parents, whose “Amazing Amy” children’s books fictionalized their daughter and left her living in a shadow. The case becomes a national media spectacle, with cable talk shows and online commenters convicting Nick in the press long before any trial. Flynn, a former Entertainment Weekly critic, wrote the book as a deliberate response to conventional crime fiction, using the missing-wife premise to examine marriage, performance, and the stories people tell about themselves. Published in June 2012, Gone Girl spent eight weeks atop the New York Times bestseller list and became a cultural phenomenon, later adapted into David Fincher’s 2014 film starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike.
