Resumen de Drama

Raina Telgemeier's acclaimed graphic novel, *Drama*, immerses readers in the intricate and often chaotic world of middle school theater. The story centers on Callie, a passionate seventh-grader whose heart belongs to the backstage magic of her school's drama club, not the spotlight. As the dedicated set designer for their production of "Moon Over Mississippi," Callie navigates the demanding tasks of painting backdrops, building props, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, a role often overshadowed but crucial to any successful play. The narrative skillfully weaves together the theatrical drama of putting on a show with the equally intense personal dramas of adolescence. Callie grapples with shifting friendships, the emotional turbulence of first crushes, and the complexities of finding her place within a vibrant, diverse cast and crew. Her romantic interests, including the charming but somewhat aloof Greg, and the twin brothers Jesse and Justin, become central to her journey of self-discovery. A distinctive aspect of the book is its sensitive and organic exploration of Jesse and Justin's identities, which subtly but significantly broadens Callie’s perspective on relationships and love, a nuanced element for a middle-grade title. Telgemeier's signature visual storytelling is fundamental to *Drama*'s appeal, using expressive character designs and dynamic panel layouts to convey the bustling energy of rehearsals, the frustrations of creative challenges, and the intimate moments of pre-teen emotional growth. The book uniquely foregrounds the often-unseen labor of the technical crew, celebrating their vital contribution to the arts and highlighting the collaborative spirit required to bring a theatrical vision to life. It’s a vivid portrayal of the joy, stress, and camaraderie inherent in artistic creation, set against the backdrop of relatable middle school experiences.
