As she navigates her feelings of isolation, the novel explores the challenges Vivian faces in aligning her instinctual desires with her aspirations for a normal human life. Vivian’s tumultuous journey is complicated by her intense romance with a human boy named Aiden, which forces her to confront the complexities of love in the context of her supernatural identity.
