《Bad Dad》摘要

"Bad Dad" by David Walliams is a children's novel centered around a young boy named Frank and his father, who is a less-than-perfect role model. Set within an engaging framework of humor and adventure, the story begins with Frank's life turning chaotic when his dad, deemed a "bad dad," becomes embroiled in a series of misadventures. The narrative unfolds in a vibrant urban environment filled with quirky characters and whimsical scenarios, mirroring the mischief Frank's father, known as "the World's Worst Criminal," often finds himself in. The story explores themes of family, love, and the bond between a father and son, while also addressing the complexities of parental expectations and the importance of acceptance. Frank's journey is not just about avoiding trouble; it is about understanding his father's flaws and appreciating the unique qualities that make him, despite his mistakes, a caring parent. As they navigate the ups and downs of his father's antics—ranging from misguided get-rich-quick schemes to improbable heists—Frank proves to be a resilient protagonist, often stepping up to save the day and confront the challenges that arise. Walliams employs distinctive chapter ideas filled with humor and suspense, leading readers through riotous situations that blend excitement with heartfelt moments. The novel thrives on the energetic illustrations by artistic collaborator Tony Ross, which enhance the storytelling and captivate the young audience. Through clever dialogue and memorable scenes, "Bad Dad" encapsulates the essence of the parent-child relationship, encouraging readers to find joy in the imperfections of those they love while embarking on their own adventures.
