The story centers on two Mexican-American boys: Aristotle "Ari" Mendoza, who is introspective and grappling with his anger and feelings of alienation, and Dante Quintana, an outgoing and artistic boy who is more at ease with his emotions. Their vastly different personalities create a compelling dynamic as they navigate the complexities of adolescence and their own cultural backgrounds.
