"A Touch of Darkness" by Scarlett St. Clair is a reimagining of the classic myth of Hades and Persephone, infusing it with modern elements and romance. Set in a world where gods exist alongside mortals, the novel follows Persephone, a young goddess struggling to break free from her overprotective mother, Demeter. In this retelling, St. Clair explores themes of love, power, and self-discovery against the backdrop of Greek mythology blended with contemporary society. The story begins with Persephone's determination to carve out her own identity in a realm that largely overlooks her potential. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she crosses paths with Hades, the enigmatic god of the Underworld. Their initial interactions are filled with tension and attraction, as Persephone grapples with her feelings for Hades while navigating societal expectations.
